Mountain Ministries History

Mountain Ministries is a 1-2 year, Christ centered discipleship program that was created by Gary and Fay Miller for people who have struggled with the life dominating sins involved with substance abuse. 50+ years ago, what now stands to be a ministry that has helped hundreds of men and women, once had small humble beginnings. In their early 20’s they began opening their home to those who struggled with substance abuse and were seeking change. Gary for years had a deep pull in his heart to reach souls stuck in the bondage of addiction, and Fay being a faithful and loving wife came alongside him to make this dream come true! What started as a few men living with them in their home being mentored and poured into by Gary quickly turned into a house over flowing, and eventually lead to the men’s program being on the property it is now. After years of being a men’s program, Gary and Fay realized the need for a women’s program as well! This lead to the same humble beginnings of having women living in their home, which quickly again grew into the woman’s program that is on the Rainier property now!

Sadly in 2021 Gary went to be with our loving savior. However, his legacy continues on the mountain, and his mission of saving souls and building the kingdom continues to be fruitful! His love, commitment, dedication, patience, grace, and character reflected that of Jesus so well, and will forever be rooted deeply in this ministry. Fay is still involved in the ministry as a spiritual mentor to leadership, giver of counsel over the finances, and continues to love those who come through the mountain!

“Addiction is a worldly, man centered term that by definition has no cure.  But if people will identify their struggles for what they are, as sin, which Jesus came and set us free from, then they can hope to experience true freedom from their “addiction”.  Anyone in Christ is a new creation and no longer an addict by definition.  Mountain ministries doesn’t attempt to bandaid the symptoms of people’s lives.  But by focusing on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  And experiencing the cleansing forgiveness offered through the work at Calvary.  The root of people’s struggles are dealt with.  Resulting in a new way of life free from the bondages of sin.” - Gary Miller
